I finally got to hear some of Vida’s tracks of her new album. Stupid me forgot that websites are offering more and more multimedia content now that broadband connections are considered as de rigueur in practically all parts of the globe. A growing number of websites are incorporating audio content in their pages so you also get auditory stimulation when you browse through the website. Personally, I find this new feature and trend obtrusive. More often than not I jump from my chair in surprise because of the sudden music that comes out of my computer speakers. This is exacerbated when I browse websites in the middle of the night (nope, I don’t surf for porn) and I not only get surprised I also panic because it might wake up my neighbors (my PC speakers are usually cranked high and these websites’ volumes are cranked to 11 by default). But, at any other time, especially when I am on the lookout for music just like my quest to hear Vida’s songs then these obtrusions become a welcome device for my search.
The song that I heard from Vida’s album, to be entitled Theme Park, is You Got Me. I think it’s a great dance / club song with a really infectious beat. I have to say that Vida is not going to drive Mariah Carey out of business as she is not a very strong singer. But I think the real genius in Vida’s efforts is that she was able to work with really talented people to lift up her weak vocals and make it a centerpiece by surrounding it with really awesome music and beats.
